In the 19 th century,European women couldn't vote. A British woman,Emmeline Pankhursy,and her daughter,Christabel,wanted to change this. They believed that women should have the same rights as men,so they founded a grouped in 1903 to campaign for women's votes. They were the "suffragettes".
Finally,after a big effort,they achieved their objective,British women could vote. In Spain,however,women had to wait until 1931.
